Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Mengdalek, south of Wushi County Seat, Xinjiang. It was named by Zhang Shiben et al. in 1991.


Lithology and Thickness

Conglomerate and Siltstone. Littoral clastic and carbonate rock deposits: gray massive conglomerate interbedded with purple-red and light green-gray medium- to thick-bedded siltstone, clayey sandstone as well as mudstone and nodular limestone. Exposed thickness 172 m; with minor lateral changes in lithology and thickness.
